From Three to Five

When we moved to Florida we didn't just get a new house - WE GOT TWO BABY GIRLS!  We tried our darndest to get those two adopted and then when they couldn't find another foster family for them their only option was splitting them.  I don't know if you know, but these girls FREAK OUT when they're separated.  They are in love with each other and very attached.  So we did it - we became a family of five.  We're really happy to have them.  And as much as Nigel pretends they annoy him - he loves those boogers.

Sometimes you just need to cuddle with your brother.

 Wrestle time!

Daddy's Happy Girl

We know three dogs is a lot of dogs.  You don't have to worry about us going and getting any more any time soon.  Three is a limit.  But the thing of it is we've been doing three dogs for the past 9 months.  So we had already adjusted to that many dogs - we were already used to it.  And just as importantly - Nigel had gotten used to it.  No one is more surprised than Matt and I that Nigel adjusted so well to have 2 extra dogs at the house and wanting our attention.  Nigel was totally a momma's boy and he has become so independent and less needy since getting the girls.  Don't get me wrong - he still jumps up on my lap when he wants attention, but he never growls or snaps at the girls.  He really does like them.  And it really is helpful to have them around to give Nigel a playmate.  When Matt would travel he'd get so bored with me because he doesn't like to wrestle with me.  Now he can wrestle as much or as little as he wants!  Yes, the girls are extra money and time, but it's nothing we can't handle  - and seriously - just look at those faces.  How could you not want to make them yours?

A Tale of Three Fridges

I found the camera!  Matt thought I had lost it (he didn't actually say that, but I could tell by his annoyance that I hadn't found it yet that he thought it was my fault) - BUT it was in HIS bag.  Booya!

Anyways... this is how we've been living for 3 weeks:

Yeah, that's where the fridge is supposed to go.  Only we don't have one.  Well, we do - we have our old one out in the garage and then we have this.

That ugly, super-dated mini fridge that once sat in Matt's dorm.  It the faux wood exterior that screams 1994.  Unfortunately, I've had to depend on this ugly sucker for the last couple of weeks for the essentials inside while we've kept less-used things in the fridge outside.  Not horrible, but not super convenient, either.  I wanted to wait until we cleared out most of the boxes before bringing anything else into the house.  Plus, I didn't feel like dropping a bunch a money right after moving so we waited a minute to lessen the blow.  Lowe's was having a pretty good sale MLK weekend so we took advantage of it and now have this beauty!

Fun fact: Most stainless steel refrigerators aren't completely stainless steel.  Most of them only have a stainless front and the other three sides are black.  That infuriated Matt and I when we found this out when we got to the store.  Our preference is black appliances anyways (can't you see the fingerprints on that fridge already?!) so when you're paying more for stainless - the rest of the kitchen already had stainless in so we had to do stainless for the fridge - I expect to get the entire thing in stainless.  Most options were either a grey color to make the side appear stainless (it didn't appear stainless) or black.  We went with black sides since most of the other appliances have black on them and there is black in the counter tops.  So there you have it - we now own a black, brown and stainless refrigerator!
